All-Purpose Jaw Release

All-Purpose Jaw Release (Knight-Thompson Speechwork)

Place the fingers on the side of the face with the thumbs resting behind the ears.

Slowly, smoothly, and gently melt the hands downward. Simultaneously, think about floating the head upward through the hands.

When the thumb reaches the angle of the jaw, the hands can change direction, following the jawline.

Allow the light contact of the fingers to encourage softness and release in the muscles of the face and jaw.

Repeat the exercise several times, aiming for a deepening release, awareness, and sense of presence each time.

When you finish, try to take your work with you into the next thing you do.
