Stargazing

Stand upright, sensing moment by moment for a dynamic, active alignment in your bones.

Cradle the back of the skull in the palms, with the thumbs extending downward alongside the neck-spine and the elbows spread wide.

Gently lean back into this “pillow,” allowing your gaze to travel upward and your jaw to release open. Stay connected to the support of your legs. If the breath becomes labored, lean back less.

Allow the chest to spread open and the breath to drop in. Imagine you’re stargazing, and each in-breath inspires a new level of awe and delight. Perhaps you can express that experience on an “Oh, wow…”

Use your hands to guide the back of your skull back up to a level position. Take a few moments to sense your breath and any shifts in your energy or alignment. Try to take this awareness with you into the next thing you do.
